For Parents
Choosing a therapist is hard, especially when you’re a parent searching for your child. There are so many websites and online profiles, that it can be difficult to differentiate one therapist from another. With that in mind, here are some of the most common reasons clients hire me, as well as the presenting issues I feel most equipped to help you resolve.
If you are a parent looking for a therapist for your child:
- You sense your son/daughter is struggling, and think they’d benefit from talking with someone outside of the family.

- You feel like you can’t communicate with your son/daughter effectively.
- Your son/daughter seems disengaged – they’re not performing well in school, distancing from you, or they don’t seem interested in as many things as they used to.
- Divorce or separation is causing issues for your family.
- You want help talking with your son/daughter about drugs/alcohol.
- Your son/daughter is a competitive athlete who’s experiencing distress related to their athletic performance.
- Your son/daughter is struggling with peers, and you’re unsure of how to help.
- Your son/daughter is beginning to look at colleges, and could use assistance with the college search and application process.
